Working Schedule
- Monday to Friday: 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM – OIS School operational hours
- Reporting at Westin: 5:30 PM, as scheduled
- Weekly offs and working hours will be as per the operational roster.
- Timings may be adjusted based on operational requirements.
Role Purpose
The Junior Barista will undergo structured training to develop strong skills in coffee preparation, beverage service, customer interaction, hygiene and café operations.
The role will also function as a reliever for the OIS School team, providing operational support whenever an existing team member is on leave, absent, deputed to another location or otherwise unavailable. The Junior Barista should therefore be flexible and prepared to work across designated locations as required.
Key Responsibilities
1. Barista Training & Development
- Undergo hands-on training in espresso preparation, milk steaming, brewing methods and beverage preparation.
- Learn and consistently follow standard recipes and beverage specifications.
- Develop knowledge of coffee beans, blends, grinding, extraction and basic coffee machine operations.
- Learn proper use, cleaning and basic care of coffee machines and café equipment.
- Progressively develop the skills required to independently manage a barista station.
2. OIS Reliever Responsibilities
- Act as a designated relief resource for the OIS School barista team.
- Take over duties when a team member is on leave, absent, deputed to another location or otherwise unavailable.
- Be prepared to work at either OIS campus/location or another designated outlet based on operational requirements.
- Ensure continuity of beverage service without compromising quality, hygiene or customer experience.
- Adapt quickly to the working style, menu and operational requirements of each location.
3. Café & Beverage Operations
- Prepare coffee and other beverages according to established recipes and quality standards.
- Maintain consistency in taste, presentation and portion control.
- Ensure the bar counter and work area are clean, organised and well maintained.
- Assist with mise en place, stock replenishment and daily opening/closing activities.
- Monitor basic stock levels and inform the supervisor of shortages or requirements.
- Follow proper handling and storage procedures for coffee, milk, syrups and other ingredients.
4. Hygiene & Food Safety
- Strictly follow all company and client hygiene and food-safety standards.
- Maintain personal grooming and professional appearance at all times.
- Keep coffee machines, equipment, counters and surrounding areas clean.
- Follow prescribed cleaning schedules and SOPs.
- Ensure waste is disposed of correctly and the work area remains clean throughout the shift.
5. Customer Service
- Provide friendly, courteous and professional service to students, staff, guests and clients.
- Understand customer requirements and provide beverages with accuracy and consistency.
- Handle customer feedback professionally and escalate concerns to the supervisor when required.
6. Teamwork & Operational Support
- Work closely with Senior Baristas, supervisors and other team members.
- Support the team during peak hours and high-volume service periods.
- Be flexible with deployment and responsibilities based on business requirements.
- Maintain punctuality, discipline and a positive attitude.
- Follow all instructions, SOPs and policies of Coffeeco India Pvt Ltd and the respective client location.
Training & Performance Expectations
The Junior Barista will be expected to progressively develop competency in:
- Espresso preparation and extraction
- Milk steaming and basic latte art
- Hot and cold beverage preparation
- Coffee machine and grinder operation
- Beverage presentation
- Hygiene and sanitation
- Stock handling and basic inventory practices
- Customer service
- Opening and closing procedures
Performance will be evaluated based on skill development, beverage quality, discipline, punctuality, hygiene, customer service, adaptability and ability to independently handle a barista station.
Key Requirement
The candidate must be flexible and willing to be deployed at different locations whenever required, particularly as a relief resource for the OIS team.
The position is intended to build the employee into a competent Barista while simultaneously providing the business with a trained and readily available relief resource to ensure uninterrupted operations.
Qualifications & Experience
- 0–1 year of experience in a café, hotel, restaurant or food-service environment preferred.
- Freshers with a strong interest in coffee and hospitality may be considered.
- Basic knowledge of coffee and beverage preparation is an advantage.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to learn and work flexible hours as per operational requirements.

Reporting
Reports to: Senior Barista / Café Supervisor / Operations Manager
Overall Objective
To develop into a skilled and dependable Barista while serving as a trained relief resource capable of supporting OIS and other designated locations, ensuring continuity of operations whenever regular team members are unavailable.
Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹17,000.00 per month
