About this Opportunity

Are you passionate about creating safer workplaces and driving a positive health and safety culture? Join UQ Sport as our Workplace Health & Safety Coordinator and play a pivotal role in supporting the wellbeing of our people, members and community across one of Queensland’s largest and most diverse sporting environments.

This role offers the opportunity to work across a dynamic portfolio of fitness, aquatic, sporting, recreation and event facilities, partnering closely with leaders and teams to strengthen safety systems, governance and operational practices. You will be instrumental in coordinating WHS reporting and committee processes, supporting incident management and investigations, driving compliance with University frameworks, and contributing to the ongoing development of a proactive and engaged safety culture.

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly organised and collaborative WHS professional who enjoys building relationships, influencing positive outcomes and making a genuine impact in a fast-paced and community-focused organisation.

In this role you will:

Coordinate WHS reporting systems, incident management processes and corrective action tracking across UQ Sport.
Support the delivery of WHS governance activities, including committee coordination, meeting administration and action follow-up.
Partner with managers and teams to promote WHS compliance, provide guidance on processes and support a positive safety culture.
Maintain accurate WHS records, inductions, training documentation and ensure alignment with University WHS frameworks and procedures.

About you:

Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety (or working towards) with experience in a similar WHS role.
Strong understanding of WHS legislation, reporting processes and safety management systems.
Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
Confident communicator who can build positive relationships across a diverse workforce.
Experience supporting incident investigations, committee coordination and compliance activities.
Proactive and collaborative approach with a genuine commitment to workplace safety and wellbeing.
