Veterinary Technician — Job Description

1. Role Summary
The Veterinary Technician supports veterinarians in delivering high-quality medical care to animals. The role includes assisting in clinical procedures, monitoring patients, maintaining medical records, ensuring hygiene standards, and educating pet owners.
2. Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Assistance
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures.
- Prepare animals for surgery and monitor anesthesia and vital signs.
- Collect and process lab samples (blood, urine, feces, skin scrapings).
Animal Handling & Patient Care
- Safely restrain pets during exams and treatments.
- Provide nursing care to hospitalized patients.
- Administer medications, injections, and vaccinations as directed by the vet.
Cleaning, Hygiene & Sanitization (Added Section)
- Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of examination rooms, treatment areas, surgical suites, and kennels.
- Clean and disinfect surgical instruments, equipment, and medical tools after every use.
- Perform daily cleaning routines including sweeping, mopping, and waste disposal.
- Ensure proper sanitization protocols to prevent cross-contamination and infection.
- Maintain hygiene standards as per Crown Vet’s clinical SOPs.
- Assist in maintaining a clean and stress-free environment for pets and clients.
Inventory & Equipment Management
- Monitor stock of medicines, consumables, and medical supplies.
- Assist in ordering, storing, and organizing inventory.
- Ensure equipment is maintained, calibrated, and functioning properly.
Client Communication
- Explain treatment plans, medication instructions, and post-operative care to pet owners.
- Support clients with preventive care guidance (nutrition, vaccinations, grooming, etc.).
Record Keeping
- Update patient records accurately after every visit or procedure.
- Document vitals, treatments, diagnostics, and progress notes.
3. Skills & Competencies
- Strong animal handling and restraint skills.
- Understanding of veterinary procedures and medical terminology.
- Good communication and client-interaction skills.
- Ability to work in fast-paced clinical environments.
- High attention to cleanliness, hygiene, and detail.
- Compassionate and patient toward animals.
4. Qualifications
- Diploma/degree/certification in Veterinary Technology or Animal Science (preferred).
- Experience in a veterinary clinic or hospital is an advantage.
- Knowledge of anesthesia monitoring (preferred).
5. Working Conditions
- Full-time, on-site clinical role.
- Rotational shifts (morning/evening/night based on clinic needs).
- Physical work involving lifting animals, cleaning tasks, and long hours on feet.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent, Fresher
Pay: ₹23,000.00 - ₹26,000.00 per month
