Job Purpose
The Kitchen Helper provides essential day-to-day support to the culinary team by handling basic food preparation, organizing ingredients, and maintaining a clean, efficient workspace. This role is crucial for ensuring the chefs can cook smoothly and efficiently during busy service hours.
Key Responsibilities1. Food Preparation & Mise en Place
- Wash, peel, chop, dice, and slice vegetables, fruits, and herbs according to the chefs' specifications.
- Assist in basic food prep tasks such as measuring ingredients, portioning meats/poultry, mixing sauces, and preparing batters.
- Ensure that prep stations are fully stocked with the necessary ingredients (mise en place) before the start of each service shift.
2. Station Support & Plating Assist
- Fetch ingredients, tools, and cookware from storage or the walk-in cooler for the line cooks and chefs as needed.
- Assist in basic assembly, garnishing, or plating of cold dishes, salads, starters, or desserts under supervision.
- Keep prep tables neat, organized, and free of clutter during high-volume service rushes.
3. Food Safety, Storage & Receiving
- Label, date, and properly store all prepped items and leftover ingredients in accordance with food safety standards.
- Assist with receiving and unloading food deliveries, ensuring stock is rotated properly using the First-In, First-Out (FIFO) method.
- Monitor and report any spoiled ingredients or low stock levels to the kitchen supervisor.
4. Cleanliness & Workstation Maintenance
- Clean and sanitize food preparation tables, cutting boards, knives, and kitchen utensils immediately after use to prevent cross-contamination.
- Maintain general cleanliness around the immediate prep stations, including wiping spills and clearing away vegetable scraps.
- Work collaboratively with the stewarding team to ensure heavy pots and pans are cycled back to the line quickly.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: Basic experience in a restaurant, hotel, or catering kitchen is preferred. A passion for cooking and a desire to learn culinary skills is highly valued.
- Knife Skills: Basic knowledge of knife handling and safe cutting techniques.
- Stamina & Physical Ability: Ability to stand for long periods, perform repetitive manual tasks (chopping, stirring), and lift kitchen crates or supplies (up to 30–40 lbs).
- Speed & Alertness: Ability to follow verbal instructions quickly and accurately in a fast-paced, noisy environment.
- Hygiene Standards: Good understanding of basic personal hygiene and kitchen food safety rules.
- Schedule Flexibility: Availability to work shifts that include early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Pay: ₹12,000.00 - ₹15,000.00 per month
