Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the execution of greenfield and brownfield chemical plant projects from concept to commissioning. The candidate will be responsible for equipment sizing, procurement coordination, project planning, erection, installation, utilities integration, commissioning, and timely project completion while ensuring safety, quality, and budget compliance.
The ideal candidate should possess hands-on experience in chemical plant execution with demonstrated knowledge of process engineering, mechanical equipment, piping, electrical systems, instrumentation, utilities, and statutory compliance.
Key ResponsibilitiesProject Planning & Execution
- Plan, monitor, and execute complete chemical plant projects within approved timelines and budgets.
- Develop project schedules using MS Project, Primavera, or equivalent software.
- Coordinate with consultants, vendors, contractors, and internal departments.
- Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
Process & Equipment Engineering
- Perform equipment sizing and selection based on process requirements.
- Review and approve equipment specifications, GA drawings, P&IDs, and fabrication drawings.
- Ensure proper material selection and compliance with applicable engineering standards.
- Coordinate with process consultants for design optimization.
Procurement & Vendor Management
- Prepare technical specifications and evaluate vendor quotations.
- Coordinate purchase orders and monitor manufacturing progress.
- Conduct vendor inspections and factory acceptance tests where required.
- Track order status and provide regular procurement updates to management.
- Ensure timely delivery of equipment and project materials.
Mechanical & Piping
- Supervise erection and installation of:
- Distillation columns
- Reactors
- Pressure vessels
- Heat exchangers
- Storage tanks
- Pumps
- Agitators
- Condensers
- Piping systems
- Verify alignment, leveling, hydrotesting, and quality of installations.
Electrical & Utilities
- Coordinate installation of:
- HT/LT electrical systems
- Transformers
- DG sets
- MCCs
- PCCs
- VFDs
- Cable trays and cabling
- Ensure adequate power distribution and utility integration.
Instrumentation & Automation
- Supervise installation and commissioning of:
- Pressure, temperature, flow, and level instruments
- Control valves
- PLC/DCS/SCADA systems
- Field instrumentation
- Coordinate loop checking, calibration, and control system commissioning.
Utility Systems
Hands-on understanding of:
- Steam systems
- Thermic fluid heaters
- Cooling towers
- Chilling plants
- Compressed air systems
- Vacuum systems
- Nitrogen systems
- Water treatment plants
- Effluent Treatment Plants (ETP)
- Fire fighting systems
Site Management
- Manage contractors and subcontractors.
- Monitor daily site progress.
- Ensure adherence to project schedules.
- Resolve technical and execution issues promptly.
- Conduct regular review meetings with stakeholders.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with HSE requirements.
- Conduct toolbox talks and safety audits.
- Ensure statutory approvals and documentation are completed.
- Maintain quality standards throughout execution.
Commissioning & Handover
- Lead pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
- Prepare punch lists and ensure timely closure.
- Conduct performance trials and plant stabilization.
- Complete documentation and hand over the project to operations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
- PMP certification is desirable.
- Additional certifications in Project Management or Industrial Safety are an advantage.
Experience
- 5–15 years of experience in chemical, specialty chemical pharmaceutical, petrochemical, or allied process industries.
- Proven track record of independently executing plant expansion or greenfield projects.
- Demonstrated experience in equipment sizing, erection, commissioning, and utility integration.
Technical Skills
- Equipment sizing and process calculations.
- Reading and interpreting PFDs, P&IDs, GA drawings, and isometrics.
- Knowledge of ASME, API, IS, and other engineering standards.
- Strong understanding of process equipment, piping, electrical systems, instrumentation, and automation.
- MS Project, Primavera, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.

Pay: ₹60,000.00 - ₹90,000.00 per month
Work Location: Hybrid remote in Chunabhatti, Mumbai, Maharashtra
