Job Summary
The Junior Consultant – Gynecology is responsible for providing comprehensive gynecological and obstetric care to patients under the guidance of senior consultants. The role involves diagnosing and managing gynecological conditions, performing routine and emergency procedures, supporting antenatal and postnatal care, participating in surgical interventions, and ensuring high standards of patient care. The consultant is also expected to contribute to clinical quality initiatives, medical education, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Responsibilities
- Diagnose and manage gynecological disorders and obstetric cases.
- Conduct outpatient consultations and inpatient rounds.
- Provide antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care.
- Perform routine gynecological procedures and assist in major surgeries.
- Manage obstetric and gynecological emergencies promptly and effectively.
- Interpret laboratory investigations and imaging studies to support clinical decision-making.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on evidence-based clinical guidelines.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation.
Surgical Responsibilities
- Perform minor and major gynecological procedures independently, as per credentialing.
- Assist senior consultants in major gynecological and obstetric and laparoscopic surgeries.
- Participate in emergency operative procedures, including cesarean sections, where credentialed.
- Ensure compliance with infection control and surgical safety protocols.
Patient Care
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, preventive care, and follow-up.
- Promote women's health through preventive screening and health education.
- Ensure compassionate, ethical, and patient-centered care.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain complete and accurate electronic medical records.
- Participate in departmental audits, quality improvement initiatives, and accreditation activities.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, clinical protocols, and statutory regulations.
Academic & Professional Responsibilities
- Participate in continuing medical education (CME) programs.
- Attend departmental meetings, case discussions, morbidity and mortality reviews, and journal clubs.
- Assist in teaching residents, interns, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Contribute to clinical research and publication activities where applicable.
Emergency Duties
- Participate in emergency and on-call duty rosters.
- Respond promptly to obstetric and gynecological emergencies.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Qualifications
- MBBS from a recognized medical institution.
- MD/MS/DNB in Obstetrics & Gynecology from a recognized university.
- Valid medical registration with the appropriate Medical Council..
Experience
- 0–3 years of post-specialization experience as a Junior Consultant, Senior Resident, or equivalent.

- Sound surgical and procedural skills appropriate to experience.
- Excellent communication and patient counseling skills.
- Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.

- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in electronic medical records and hospital information systems.
Pay: From ₹150,000.00 per month
