Position: Senior Accountant

Job Summary
The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing the financial operations including accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, statutory compliance, and monitoring of financial transactions. The role ensures accuracy, transparency, and compliance with financial regulations and institutional policies.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Accounting
- Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions.
- Prepare and manage ledger accounts, cash book, bank book, and journal entries.
- Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Reconcile bank statements and ensure financial accuracy.
2. Budgeting and Financial Planning
- Assist in preparing annual budgets for the institution.
- Monitor budget utilization and expenditure control.
- Provide financial analysis and reports to management.
3. Fee Management
- Supervise student fee collection and maintain proper records.
- Monitor outstanding fees and prepare reports on fee dues.
- Coordinate with the admissions and administrative departments for fee reconciliation.
4. Payroll and Staff Payments
- Process salary, allowances, and reimbursements for staff.
- Maintain payroll records and statutory deductions such as Provident Fund (PF), TDS, and ESI where applicable.
5. Statutory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with taxation and statutory regulations such as Income Tax Department guidelines.
- Prepare and file TDS returns and other statutory reports.
- Assist auditors during internal and external audits.
6. Financial Reporting
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Present financial reports to the management or governing body.
- Maintain records for audits and regulatory inspections.
7. Asset and Inventory Control
- Maintain fixed asset registers for institutional assets.
- Monitor procurement and maintain inventory records.
- Verify asset documentation and depreciation records.
8. Audit Coordination
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors.
- Ensure proper documentation for financial audits.
- Implement recommendations from audit reports.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (B.Com) or related field.
- M.Com / CA Inter / CMA Inter preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 7 years of accounting experience, preferably in an educational institution, NGO, or corporate organization.
Skills Required
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Tally / accounting software and MS Excel.
- Knowledge of taxation and statutory compliance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High level of integrity and attention to detail.
