Ground exploration includes Geological, Geophysical, Geotechnical, Hydrogeological data generation and subsequent modelling using the exploration data for PFS and FS study. Multiple locations need multiple people to supervise and proper data capturing and monitoring on day to day basis during exploration and further study
- Review the existing exploration data geological information related to UCG project requirement
- Marking the data gap required for the UCG project evaluation of any site
- Design the further exploration to generate UCG related specific data requirement with Geological Exploration, Geophysical exploration, Geotechnical, Environmental and hydrogeological study under the guidance of senior
- Filed Geological logging, photography of geological log, referencing, digital database generation
- Drill hole survey, supervision, closure and sealing with concrete
- Sample advice of ply by ply samples and seam overall samples, critical parameters analysis, validation of assay results
- Structural data generation like bedding # core axis angle, deformation signature, clit/joint mapping, fracture etc.
- Geotechnical data generation like RQD, RMR, Stress # Strain and Y-Modulas, rock property identification
- Hydro-geological information capturing, aquifer information capturing, hydro-geological modelling for flow analysis, contour etc.
- Geophysical logging, data generation, validation and reconciliation of bore hole data
- 3D Seismic study for fault and any deformation /void present
- QAQC and Geostatistical analysis and modelling
- Geological domain modelling using Minex software, Fault modelling, domain modelling for interburden/overburden rocks
- Surface survey, drone survey, surface mapping with infrastructure details, DTM contour generation
- Day to day progress reporting and interaction with project team and implementation of any modification.
- Supervise Geological Rock Characterization, Modeling and Volumetric Estimation of potential resource for UCG of New Ventures

Job Accountabilities (duties and responsibilities).
Sr Geologist Development will carry out reservoir characterization and geomodelling activities in support of field development and evaluation of new venture opportunities.
- Support and assist Reservoir Characterization Head in providing high quality technical support, advice, and quality control on all geological modelling and reservoir characterization aspects.
- Integrate sedimentological, stratigraphic, and facies analysis with structural interpretation to provide detailed descriptions of reservoir architecture and heterogeneity.
- Plan, build, and maintain detailed, geologically rigorous geocellular reservoir models of producing fields in a timely manner by integrating all available geological, geophysical, petrophysical, and engineering data and supplementing them with appropriate analogs.
- Propose, initiate, coordinate, and execute advanced geological/geophysical reservoir studies, to be carried out in-house or externally, to reduce uncertainty and improve existing models of the company’s producing assets.
- Iterate geocellular models with other asset team members to ensure that all subsurface understanding is adequately represented in the model.
- Provide final static models to simulation engineers and work closely with them to ensure successful history matched dynamic simulation is achieved.
- Responsible for all quality control and data management related to field geological data and seismic data. Work with the other geoscientist in the company to ensure quality control and data management of other geological data.
- Presentation/engagement of any new geological studies and its outcome to management, peers, and partners to share/discuss and look for advice for improvement/way forward.
- Lead the evaluation of new reservoir characterization and/or modelling software applications and provide recommendation and justification for acquisition of new applications to fill capability gaps.
- Actively participate in developing and implementing best practices and standards in subsurface geology knowledge and activity.
- Review geocellular models from partners and other third parties and provide guidance.
- Provide integrated geologic evaluations of new venture opportunities in support of global business development efforts.
- Participate in peer reviews, technical assurance processes, and risk assessments.
Qualification & Skills:
- Minimum 6 -8 years working in an integrated subsurface development team for an operator.
- High proficiency in Petrel software. Familiarity with Skua and Landmark is also an asset.
- Knowledge of reservoir engineering principles and experience with cross-functional collaboration between G&G and Reservoir Engineering discipline.
- Significant experience with conventional clastic reservoirs (including fluvial, shallow marine, and deep marine).
- Demonstrated strong skill set in integrated stratigraphic interpretation across disparate data sets (integration of logs, seismic, core, biostratigraphy, etc. for stratigraphic interpretation)
- Ability to import and manipulate a variety of geological, seismic, and borehole data.
- Experience working in structural and stratigraphically complex basins with limited well coverage.
- Experience and judgement to obtain and utilize appropriate analogues where necessary to supplement sparse data sets.
- Ability to deliver under demanding timelines.
- Strong presentation and communication skills – ability to communicate complex geologic concepts in easy and understandable term to non-Subsurface staff.
- Ability to mentor and coach less experienced G&G and other technical professionals.

- Initiative and desire to learn and expand within the role.
M. Sc or M. Tech or M Sc Tech in Geology, Applied Geology or Earth and Planetary Science from reputed University and professional training on field and software.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in coal geological exploration and modelling.
- Minimum 5 years of working experience is on commodity coal/lignite in relevant filed like geological exploration (logging, sampling, analysis of sample and result verification, QAQC, geophysical exploration/hydrogeological work/ resource modelling/ quality control or planning in coal mining.
- Coal geological work experience in the field as well as software modelling
- Software experience is required: Minex, Vulcan, Datamine, Minescape, or equivalent software
