- Education: Typically requires a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Textile Engineering, Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering.
- Experience: Requires 15+ years of experience in Synthetic fabric processing.
- Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of color theory, shade matching, and Jet dyeing machines.
- Soft Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and crisis management skills are essential for handling production challenges and client interactions
Core Responsibilities
- Production Planning & Execution: Lead the dyeing and finishing operations from development through to shipping. This includes machine-wise planning based on capacity, priority, and shipment requirements.
- Quality Management: Implement and enforce strict quality control measures to prevent defects like shade variation or uneven dyeing. Establish and oversee QA Laboratories for testing fastness properties such as rubbing, washing, and light.
- Process Optimization: Monitor and adjust dyeing recipes (formulas), temperatures, and pH levels to achieve "Right First Time" (RFT) results and minimize fabric waste.
- Cost Control & Profitability: Identify opportunities for cost reduction through vendor development for raw materials and improving production productivity. Manage the unit's budget and monitor its financial health.
- Technical Leadership: Serve as a technical expert in dyeing techniques (e.g., reactive, vat, jet) and finishing for various fabric types like polyester, cotton, or viscose.
- Maintenance Oversight: Supervise preventive and predictive maintenance schedules for dyeing machinery to prevent unforeseen breakdowns and downtime.
- Team Development: Lead, mentor, and train production managers, supervisors, and technicians to build a high-performance culture.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure adherence to environmental, social, health, and safety (EHS) guidelines. Manage both internal and external social or buyer audits (e.g., BSCI, SEDEX).
- Inter-departmental Coordination: Collaborate with departments like knitting, merchandising, and warehouse to ensure a smooth production flow.
