As a Data & AI Engineer, you will play pivotal role in driving the next generation of intelligent, high-performing eCommerce experiences for our global eCommerce platforms (e.g., sigmaaldrich.com and sigmaaldrich.cn) and build new features and components in our evolving platform, helping to embrace modern AI Technology & Tools. As a Data & AI Engineer, you will play a critical role in our mission to innovate within the eCommerce space. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying AI and machine learning models that address key business challenges and enhance our digital offerings. ABOUT OUR TECHNOLOGY The Digital and eCommerce team currently operates several B2B websites and direct digital sales channels via a globally deployed cloud-based platform that are a growth engine for Merck’s life science business. We provide a comprehensive catalog of all products, enabling our customers to find products and purchase products as well as get detailed scientific information on those products. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Design and implement scalable AI/ML solutions using frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Scikit-learn. Collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, and domain experts to integrate AI solutions into existing systems and workflows. Analyze large datasets using tools like Pandas, NumPy, and SQL to extract actionable insights and inform decision-making. Optimize and train AI/ML models for performance, reliability, and efficiency in production environments. Utilize cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure for deploying and managing AI solutions. Manage data pipelines and workflows using tools like Apache Spark, Airflow, and Docker for efficient data processing and model training. Stay current with the latest advancements in AI/ML technologies and methodologies, applying them to enhance our capabilities. Document processes, model architectures, and results to ensure reproducibility and facilitate knowledge sharing within the team. QUALIFICATIONS Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related field. Mandatory Skills:
- Proven experience in AI/ML model training and deployment (1- 3 years preferred).
- Familiarity with agentic AI principles and applications.
- Familiarity with built and deployment of autonomous AI agents using frameworks like LangChain, CrewAI, or AutoGen
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and R, with experience in data processing libraries.
- Strong understanding of machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) and data management tools.
- Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Experience building or integrating RAG-based architectures for LLM-assisted use cases.
- Experience with MLOps practices and tools.
- Proven experience in Python and experience with ML frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn.
- Ability to provide solutions based on business requirements.
- Ability to work with global teams and a flexible work schedule.
- Must have excellent problem-solving skills and be customer centric.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of natural language processing (NLP), Large Language Models (LLMs)
- Experience with cloud environments (e.g., Google Cloud Platform, Azure, Amazon Web Services)
- Familiarity with DevOps practices/principles, Agile/Scrum methodologies, CI/CD pipelines and the product development lifecycle
- Familiarity with modern web APIs and full stack frameworks is a plus.
- Familiarity with data manipulation and analysis libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, Spark) is a plus.
- Experience with Palantir Foundry is a plus
Pay: ₹100,000.00 - ₹120,000.00 per month
