Job Summary
The Quality Controller is responsible for monitoring and controlling the quality of construction activities and materials at the project site. The role ensures that all works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, inspection and test plans (ITPs), project requirements, and applicable quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor daily construction activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings and specifications.
- Inspect incoming construction materials and verify them against approved specifications and purchase requirements.
- Conduct inspections of reinforcement, formwork, concrete, masonry, plastering, waterproofing, flooring, finishing, and other civil works.
- Ensure that work is carried out according to approved method statements and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
- Coordinate with site engineers, subcontractors, consultants, and laboratories for required inspections and testing.
- Check concrete quality, including sampling, slump tests, cube testing, and related documentation.
- Monitor material testing and maintain records of test results and laboratory reports.
- Raise inspection requests and coordinate consultant/client inspections and approvals.
- Identify defective or non-conforming work and ensure corrective action is taken.
- Prepare and maintain NCRs, inspection reports, checklists, test reports, and quality records.
- Verify that corrective and preventive actions are implemented and closed within the required time.
- Monitor workmanship and ensure proper standards are maintained throughout the project.
- Ensure approved materials are used and prevent unauthorized or rejected materials from being incorporated into the work.
- Review drawings and specifications and communicate quality requirements to site teams and subcontractors.
- Conduct regular quality inspections and prepare daily, weekly, and monthly quality reports.
- Maintain proper documentation for material approvals, inspection records, test certificates, and quality documentation.
- Participate in internal and external quality audits.
- Assist in preparing project handover and final quality documentation.
- Promote quality awareness among engineers, supervisors, workers, and subcontractors.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- 3–6 years of experience in construction quality control, preferably in civil/infrastructure projects.
- Good knowledge of construction materials, testing procedures, and civil construction practices.
- Knowledge of QA/QC procedures, ITPs, method statements, NCRs, and inspection processes.
- Familiarity with applicable IS codes and project specifications is preferred.
