The Release Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the deployment of software releases across development, testing, and production environments. This role ensures that all releases are delivered on time, within scope, and with minimal disruption to business operations while maintaining the highest quality standards.
JOB RESPONSIBILITY
Primary Responsibilities
Release Planning & Coordination
Develop and maintain comprehensive release schedules and roadmaps
Coordinate with development, QA, operations, and business teams to plan release cycles
Define release scope, objectives, and success criteria
Manage dependencies across multiple teams and projects
Facilitate release planning meetings and go/no-go decisions
Release Execution & Deployment
Oversee end-to-end release processes from development through production deployment
Coordinate deployment activities across multiple environments (Dev, QA, UAT, Production)
Manage release cutover activities and rollback procedures
Ensure proper version control and configuration management
Monitor deployment progress and resolve blocking issues
QUALIFICATION
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
Relevant certifications (ITIL, PMP, SAFe, or similar) preferred
EXPERIENCE
5+ years of experience in software development, IT operations, or release management
3+ years of hands-on release management experience
Proven track record of managing complex, multi-team releases
Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Technical Skills
Strong understanding of SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle)
Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions)
Proficiency with version control systems (Git, SVN)
Knowledge of deployment automation tools (Ansible, Terraform, Chef, Puppet)
Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
Understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
Experience with project management tools (Jira, ServiceNow, Azure DevOps)
