Job Title: Assistant Professor – Psychiatric (Mental Health) Nursing Department: Nursing
Reporting To: Principal / Head of the Department
Job Summary:
The Assistant Professor in Psychiatric Nursing is responsible for teaching undergraduate and/or postgraduate nursing students, supervising clinical training in mental health settings, contributing to academic administration, research, and supporting the overall development of the nursing program in accordance with INC and institutional norms.
Key Responsibilities: Academic & Teaching:
- Teach Psychiatric (Mental Health) Nursing subjects as per INC syllabus.
- Prepare lesson plans, teaching materials, and evaluation tools.
- Conduct lectures, seminars, tutorials, and case discussions.
- Participate in curriculum development and academic planning.
- Guide students in academic and clinical learning.
Clinical Responsibilities:
- Supervise and guide students during psychiatric clinical postings.
- Demonstrate psychiatric nursing procedures and patient care.
- Coordinate with hospital/clinical staff for effective clinical training.
- Ensure students maintain clinical records and case studies.
Research & Professional Development:
- Participate in research activities, publications, and conferences.
- Guide undergraduate/postgraduate students in research projects (if applicable).
- Engage in continuous professional development and training programs.
Administrative Duties:
- Participate in departmental meetings and college committees.
- Assist in admissions, examinations, and academic audits.
- Maintain academic, clinical, and student records.
- Support accreditation and inspection requirements (INC/University).
Eligibility Criteria: Educational Qualifications:
- M.Sc. Nursing in Psychiatric (Mental Health) Nursing from a recognized institution.
- Must be registered with State Nursing Council.
Experience:
- As per Indian Nursing Council (INC) norms
(Generally 2 years of teaching/clinical experience after M.Sc. Nursing)
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong subject knowledge in Psychiatric Nursing.
- Effective teaching and communication skills.
- Ability to mentor and guide students.
- Clinical competence in mental health nursing practices.
- Basic computer skills and academic documentation skills.

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹45,000.00 per month
