Junior Engineer – Construction Finishing & Interior WorksJob Summary
The Junior Engineer will be responsible for supervising, coordinating, and monitoring finishing and interior works at project sites to ensure quality execution, adherence to project timelines, and compliance with approved specifications and safety standards.
Roles & ResponsibilitiesSite Supervision
- Supervise day-to-day finishing and interior works at the project site.
- Monitor execution of civil finishing activities such as plastering, flooring, tiling, painting, waterproofing, false ceilings, partitions, and joinery works.
- Ensure work is carried out according to approved drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
Interior Works Coordination
- Coordinate with interior contractors, vendors, and subcontractors for smooth execution of works.
- Monitor installation of modular furniture, carpentry works, decorative finishes, fixtures, and fittings.
- Ensure proper sequencing of interior activities to avoid delays and rework.
Quality Control
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure quality standards are maintained.
- Identify defects and ensure corrective actions are implemented promptly.
- Verify materials used at site meet approved specifications and quality requirements.
Project Planning & Progress Monitoring
- Track daily progress of finishing and interior activities against project schedules.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.
- Assist senior engineers in project planning and resource allocation.
Material Management
- Monitor material requirements and coordinate procurement requests.
- Verify material quantities received at site and maintain proper records.
- Minimize material wastage through effective site management.
Measurement & Billing
- Take measurements of completed works for billing and contractor payments.
- Verify contractor bills and work completion quantities.
- Maintain records of executed work and supporting documentation.
Coordination & Communication
- Coordinate with architects, consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders.
- Attend site meetings and provide updates on project progress.
- Resolve site-related issues in consultation with senior engineers.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with site safety procedures and organizational policies.
- Monitor housekeeping and safe working practices at the project site.
- Report safety concerns and ensure corrective actions are taken.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of construction finishing and interior works.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Knowledge of quality standards and construction methodologies.
- Good coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Office, and basic project documentation.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and quantity estimation is an added advantage.
Experience
- 4–5 years of experience in construction finishing works, interior fit-outs, and project execution.
- Experience in residential, commercial, institutional, or hospitality projects preferred.
