We are seeking an experienced and visionary Bureau Chief to lead our newsroom operations, oversee editorial planning, manage reporting teams, and ensure the highest standards of journalism.
Job Summary
The Bureau Chief is responsible for leading the editorial bureau, managing reporters and correspondents, assigning news coverage, ensuring editorial quality, and driving the overall news agenda. The ideal candidate should possess strong leadership, editorial judgment, newsroom management experience, and the ability to make quick decisions during breaking news situations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the bureau's day-to-day editorial operations.
- Supervise News Reporters, Camera Operators, News Anchors, and field correspondents.
- Plan daily, weekly, and special news coverage in alignment with editorial priorities.
- Assign stories and monitor progress to ensure timely delivery.
- Ensure all news content is accurate, balanced, fact-checked, and compliant with journalistic ethics.
- Oversee breaking news coverage and coordinate newsroom resources during emergencies.
- Review and approve news stories before publication or broadcast.
- Coordinate with the Editor, Producers, and Digital Team for content planning and execution.
- Build and maintain relationships with government departments, public officials, law enforcement agencies, corporate leaders, and other key stakeholders.
- Guide the team in developing exclusive stories, investigative reports, and special features.
- Mentor and train junior journalists to improve reporting quality and newsroom standards.
- Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and editorial policies.
- Prepare bureau performance reports and recommend operational improvements.
Required Skills
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.

- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in Hindi and English.
- Deep understanding of journalism ethics, media laws, and newsroom operations.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Media Studies, or a related field.
- Master's Degree is preferred.
- 5–10 years of experience in journalism, including at least 2–3 years in a leadership or editorial management role.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing a digital or television newsroom.
- Proven track record of leading breaking news coverage.
- Experience in investigative journalism and special reports.
- Strong network of media, government, and industry contacts.
- Knowledge of multimedia storytelling and digital publishing platforms.

Working Hours
- 6 Days a Week
