About the Role
ZugZwang Academy is looking for a passionate and dedicated FIDE Rated Chess Coach to conduct in-person chess training sessions for students of various age groups and skill levels. The coach will be responsible for delivering engaging, structured, and result-oriented chess lessons while fostering a positive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-person chess coaching sessions at our Bellandur center.
- Teach chess fundamentals, tactics, strategy, openings, middlegames, and endgames.
- Prepare students for school, district, state, national, and rated tournaments.
- Analyze games and provide constructive feedback.
- Develop lesson plans and training materials based on student levels.
- Track student progress and identify areas for improvement.
- Encourage critical thinking, calculation, and decision-making skills.
- Maintain discipline and create an interactive classroom environment.
- Communicate student progress to academy coordinators when required.
Requirements
- Must be a FIDE Rated Chess Player.
- Prior coaching experience is preferred.
- Strong understanding of chess principles and tournament play.
- Ability to teach children across different age groups.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patient, responsible, and enthusiastic about teaching.
- Ability to make sessions engaging and interactive.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience coaching tournament players.
- Experience conducting group and one-on-one sessions.
- Knowledge of online chess platforms such as Lichess and Chess.com.
- Experience in preparing students for competitive events.
