The KYC Operations Specialist is responsible for verifying the identities of clients, assessing potential risks, and ensuring compliance with anti-money laundering (AML) and financial regulations. This role involves high-volume, accurate data entry, document verification, and updating internal banking systems.
Key Responsibilities
Document Verification: Review, verify, and validate customer onboarding documents (ID proofs, address proofs, corporate entity documents) in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
Data Entry & Management: Accurately input client information into core banking and compliance systems with high speed and zero errors.
Customer Due Diligence (CDD): Conduct basic background checks and screen names against global sanctions, politically exposed persons (PEP) lists, and adverse media.
Data Remediation: Review legacy client files to update missing information and correct data discrepancies.
Reporting: Escalate suspicious cases or incomplete documentation to the compliance or management teams for further review.
Key Skills & Requirements
Typing & Accuracy: Exceptional data entry skills with a minimum typing speed of 30 to 35 Words Per Minute (WPM) and a high accuracy rate.
Attention to Detail: Ability to spot minor discrepancies or fraudulent details in legal and identification documents.
Technical Familiarity: Comfortable navigating core banking applications, compliance databases, and productivity tools like Microsoft Excel.
Communication: Clear written communication for documenting verification notes and collaborating with internal compliance teams or BPO consultants.
Basic Financial Awareness: A fundamental understanding of why banks require KYC and AML guidelines is highly beneficial.
