Job Description: Accounts & Finance Manager (Chartered Accountant)
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Chartered Accountant to lead our Finance & Accounts function. The Accounts & Finance Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of accounting, financial reporting, taxation, budgeting, treasury, statutory compliance, audits, and internal controls. The role requires strong analytical abilities, leadership skills, and a strategic mindset to support business growth while ensuring compliance with all applicable financial and regulatory requirements.
The ideal candidate should possess extensive knowledge of Indian accounting standards, direct and indirect taxation, financial planning and analysis, ERP systems, and corporate governance. The candidate will work closely with senior management to drive financial efficiency, improve business performance, and support strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Manage the complete accounting function and ensure accurate recording of all financial transactions.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with applicable accounting standards.
- Ensure timely book closure and preparation of trial balance, profit & loss account, balance sheet, and cash flow statements.
- Review general ledger balances and perform account reconciliations.
- Monitor fixed assets, depreciation schedules, and capital expenditure accounting.
- Ensure timely month-end and year-end closing activities.
2. Taxation & Statutory Compliance
- Ensure complete compliance with GST, TDS, Income Tax, Professional Tax, and other applicable statutory regulations.
- Review and file GST returns, TDS returns, Income Tax returns, and other statutory filings within prescribed timelines.
- Handle tax assessments, departmental notices, and litigation support.
- Coordinate with tax consultants and legal advisors for compliance and advisory matters.
- Monitor changes in tax laws and assess their impact on the organization.
- Ensure timely payment of statutory dues and maintain proper documentation.
3. Audit & Internal Controls
- Lead statutory audits, internal audits, tax audits, and cost audits.
- Coordinate with external auditors and ensure timely completion of audits.
- Implement recommendations arising from audit findings.
- Develop and strengthen internal financial controls and SOPs.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and statutory requirements.
- Conduct periodic financial risk assessments and recommend mitigation measures.
4. Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Planning
- Prepare annual operating budgets in consultation with department heads.
- Develop monthly and quarterly financial forecasts.
- Analyze budget versus actual performance and provide variance analysis.
- Support strategic financial planning and long-term business forecasting.
- Recommend cost optimization and profitability improvement initiatives.
5. Treasury & Cash Flow Management
- Monitor daily cash flow and liquidity requirements.
- Manage banking relationships and oversee fund management activities.
- Prepare cash flow forecasts and optimize working capital.
- Coordinate loan documentation, banking facilities, and financial instruments.
- Ensure efficient utilization of available funds.
6. MIS & Financial Analysis
- Prepare monthly MIS reports for senior management.
- Develop dashboards and KPI reports for business performance monitoring.
- Analyze profitability, margins, operating costs, and financial trends.
- Present financial insights to support strategic decision-making.
- Identify opportunities for revenue enhancement and cost reduction.
7. Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Monitor vendor payments and ensure timely settlement.
- Review customer receivables and coordinate collection activities.
- Ensure proper reconciliation of customer and vendor accounts.
- Improve receivable cycles and reduce outstanding balances.
8. ERP & Process Improvement
- Ensure effective utilization of ERP systems for finance operations.
- Participate in ERP implementation, upgrades, and process automation initiatives.
- Improve accounting processes through digitization and automation.
- Develop standardized financial procedures across business functions.
9. Team Management
- Lead, supervise, and mentor the finance and accounts team.
- Allocate responsibilities and monitor team performance.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and training sessions.
- Foster a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
10. Business Support
- Provide financial support for new projects, investments, and expansion initiatives.
- Conduct financial feasibility studies and investment analysis.
- Support management during mergers, acquisitions, fundraising, or due diligence activities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve operational efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification is mandatory.
- Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Finance, or Accounting.
- 7+ years of post-qualification experience in accounting, finance, taxation, and audit.
- Experience in manufacturing, engineering, FMCG, retail, or service industries will be an advantage.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of Indian Accounting Standards (Ind AS) and financial reporting.
- Thorough understanding of GST, Income Tax, TDS, Companies Act, and other statutory regulations.
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Tally Prime, or similar platforms.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables, Power Query, Lookup functions, dashboards, and financial modeling.
- Experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and variance analysis.
- Knowledge of internal controls, audit processes, and risk management.
