We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Solar Design Engineer to join our growing team. The Solar Design Engineer will be responsible for the comprehensive design and optimization of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems for residential, commercial, and utility-scale projects. This role involves creating detailed electrical and mechanical designs, ensuring compliance with all relevant codes and standards, and collaborating with various internal and external stakeholders to deliver efficient and high-performing solar solutions.
- Develop detailed solar PV system designs, including single-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, panel layouts, wiring schematics, and equipment specifications, using industry-standard software.
- Conduct thorough site assessments and energy consumption analysis to determine optimal system sizing and placement.
- Select appropriate solar modules, inverters, racking systems, balance of system (BOS) components, and other electrical equipment based on project requirements, budget, and performance goals.
- Ensure all designs comply with the National Electrical Code (NEC), local building codes, utility interconnection requirements, and other applicable regulations.
- Prepare comprehensive permit application packages, including drawings, calculations, and technical documentation, for submission to authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs).
- Perform energy modeling and performance simulations to predict system output and optimize design for maximum efficiency and return on investment.
- Collaborate closely with sales, project management, installation teams, and clients to ensure design accuracy, constructability, and client satisfaction.
- Provide technical support and expertise during the sales process, project development, and construction phases.
- Review and approve as-built drawings and documentation upon project completion.
- Stay current with emerging solar technologies, industry best practices, and changes in codes and regulations.
- Identify and implement design improvements to enhance system performance, reduce costs, and streamline installation processes.
