Eightfold was founded with a vision to solve for employment in our society. For decades, the connection between individuals and opportunities has been based on who the individuals are and the strength of their network, vs. their potential. Eightfold leverages artificial intelligence to transform how to think about skills and capabilities for individuals as well as how jobs and career decisions are made. Eightfold offers the industry’s first AI-powered Talent Intelligence Platform to transform how organizations plan, hire, develop and retain a diverse workforce, enabling individuals to transform their careers.
To date, Eightfold AI has received more than $410 million in funding and a valuation of over $2B from leading investors to further our mission of finding the right career for everyone in the world. If you are passionate about solving one of the most fundamental challenges of our society - employment, working on hard business problems, and being part of an amazing growth story - Eightfold is the place to be!

Senior Engineering Manager – Data Platform
About the Team
You will be joining the Data Platform team at Eightfold — a critical horizontal platform team that powers the entire engineering organization. Unlike vertical product teams, the Data Platform team is responsible for the foundational data infrastructure that every product line at Eightfold depends on, from our flagship Talent Acquisition suite to Talent Management and beyond.
Our team owns the end-to-end data platform stack: robust ingestion pipelines that move terabytes of enterprise customer data reliably and at scale, the storage and compute infrastructure that makes that data queryable and actionable, and the data quality and governance systems that ensure every downstream consumer can trust what they're working with.
Key outcomes for this team include:
Reliability and Scale
Ensuring our data pipelines and infrastructure are highly available, fault-tolerant, and capable of growing with Eightfold's customer base.
Developer Velocity
Making it easy for product engineering teams to onboard, access, and build on top of platform data services.
Data Quality and Trust
Delivering high-fidelity, well-governed data that product and ML teams can build on with confidence.
Innovation with Modern Data Technologies
Integrating cutting-edge tools across streaming, batch, and AI/ML workflows into our platform architecture.
Operational Excellence
Driving down operational toil, improving observability, and building self-service capabilities that reduce bottlenecks across teams.
The Data Platform sits at the heart of Eightfold's technical foundation. If you enjoy building systems that multiply the effectiveness of every other team in the company, this is the right place for you.
What You'll Do
-
Manage a team of high-quality platform engineers and drive engineering excellence.
-
Act as a hands-on technical leader in architecture, design, and code reviews across data pipeline, storage, and governance domains, while contributing to code when required.
-
Own end-to-end platform development strategies by working closely with product teams, data consumers (ML, Analytics, Application Engineering), and cross-functional stakeholders.
-
Define and drive the roadmap for data ingestion pipelines, infrastructure, and data quality frameworks.
-
Own the strategy and execution for building, enhancing, and monitoring integrations with third-party systems across the HR tech ecosystem — including SSO providers, HRIS systems, ATS platforms, Learning Management Systems (LMS), Assessment Systems, and Background Verification Systems — ensuring these integrations are reliable, scalable, and secure.
-
Establish SLAs, observability standards, and operational processes that make the platform a reliable foundation for the entire organization.
-
Attract, develop, and retain top-tier platform engineering talent.
-
Build and champion best-in-class engineering practices — from CI/CD and testing to incident response and on-call disciplines specific to data systems.
Who you are:
-
8+ years of experience in software/data engineering, with at least 1+ years in an Engineering Manager role.
-
Deep hands-on experience with distributed data systems, including data pipelines (batch and streaming), data warehousing, and large-scale storage technologies (e.g., Spark, Flink, Airflow, Solr, Redshift, StarRocks, AWS Kinesis, SQS, SNS).
-
Strong understanding of core data platform concepts, including ingestion patterns, schema management, data lineage, data quality frameworks, and access control/governance.
-
Experience building and operating platform teams serving internal engineering customers, with a strong understanding of the unique challenges of horizontal platforms (stakeholder management, API design, SLA commitments).
-
Passion for reliability, scalability, and developer experience; you care as much about the teams consuming your platform as the systems themselves.
-
Prior experience in SaaS or startup environments is a strong plus.
-
Proven experience scaling high-performing platform engineering teams and establishing strong engineering practices and processes.
-
Familiarity with modern AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or similar) to accelerate engineering velocity.
-
Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex platform capabilities and trade-offs for both technical and non-technical audiences.
