Position Title: Fashion Designer
Department: Fashion Designing
Reporting To: Manager – Fashion Designing
Location: Thrissur, Kerala

Job Purpose
To conceptualize, design, and develop innovative, trend-driven, and commercially viable Kids' and Ladies' Western Wear collections that align with the brand identity, customer preferences, and business objectives of Kalyan Silks.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign & Product Development
- Develop creative design concepts for Kids' and Ladies' Western Wear collections.
- Create sketches, illustrations, mood boards, color stories, and design specifications.
- Research domestic and international fashion trends, fabrics, silhouettes, prints, and embellishments.
- Prepare seasonal collections in line with market demand and brand positioning.
- Develop design samples and coordinate sample approvals.
Fabric & Material Selection
- Identify and select appropriate fabrics, trims, accessories, and embellishments.
- Work closely with sourcing and merchandising teams to ensure quality and cost-effective material selection.
- Evaluate fabric performance, comfort, durability, and suitability for target customers.
Production Coordination
- Coordinate with pattern makers, sampling teams, vendors, and production units.
- Monitor sample development and suggest modifications to improve fit, styling, and construction.
- Ensure designs are translated accurately from concept to finished garment.
Market & Trend Analysis
- Continuously monitor market trends, competitor collections, and customer preferences.
- Recommend new design directions based on consumer insights and emerging fashion trends.
- Participate in collection reviews and product planning discussions.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure all designs meet company quality standards and customer expectations.
- Maintain design documentation, technical specifications, and development records.
- Ensure products comply with company guidelines and industry standards.
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor of Design (B.Des) in Fashion Design or related field.
- Graduate from National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) preferred.
Experience Required
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Fashion Designing.
- Mandatory experience in Kids' and Ladies' Western Wear design and product development.
- Experience in retail fashion brands or apparel manufacturing will be an added advantage.
Required Skills & CompetenciesTechnical Skills
- Fashion sketching and illustration.
- Trend forecasting and market analysis.
- Fabric and garment construction knowledge.
- Pattern and fit understanding.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, CorelDRAW, or equivalent design software.
