Job Overview:
We are looking for a hands-on Vendor Development Engineer with experience in special-purpose machine (SPM) manufacturing. The role demands strong vendor management skills, technical understanding of fabrication and machining processes, and the ability to ensure timely and quality-driven deliveries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and onboard suitable vendors for fabrication, machining, and bought-out components
- Evaluate multiple quotations and finalize vendors based on cost, capability, and delivery commitment
- Develop and expand a reliable vendor base aligned with project requirements
- Coordinate with vendors by sharing drawings, BOM, and technical inputs
- Plan and track material dispatch to vendors and monitor manufacturing progress
- Ensure on-time delivery of components as per project schedules
- Conduct regular inspections at vendor facilities to ensure adherence to quality standards
- Work closely with internal design and production teams for smooth execution
Required Qualifications:
- Diploma / BE in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 2–5 years of experience in vendor development / procurement in SPM, fabrication, or heavy engineering industry
- Strong understanding of machining processes, fabrication, and engineering drawings
- Experience in handling multiple vendors and managing timelines
Preferred Skills:
- Good negotiation and vendor handling skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings (SolidWorks/AutoCAD familiarity is a plus)
- Strong follow-up and execution mindset (this role needs someone who gets things done, not just tracks them)
