Job Description – Project Engineer in Structural Fabrication + Process Equipment
Department -Projects / Production Coordination
Reporting To -GM – Works / Jt. CEO
Location -Factory – Badlapur
Purpose of Role
To plan, coordinate and monitor execution of projects from receipt of approved drawings till dispatch. The Project Engineer shall be responsible for extracting BOMs from drawings, preparing material and fabrication sequencing, coordinating with purchase, stores, production and quality, and ensuring that projects are completed as per schedule.
Key Responsibilities
1. BOM Extraction & Material Planning
· Study approved GA drawings, fabrication drawings and customer specifications.
· Extract complete Bill of Material (BOM) from drawings for fabricated and bought-out items.
· Prepare item-wise and stage-wise material requirement lists.
· Identify plate sizes, profiles, pipes, flanges, bought-outs, fasteners, paint, consumables, etc.
· Check BOM accuracy against drawings and customer requirements.
· Coordinate with Design, Purchase and Stores for shortages or discrepancies.
· Raise material requisitions and follow up for procurement.
2. Project Sequencing & Planning
· Prepare fabrication sequence for each project:
o Material inward
o Cutting
o Rolling / bending
o Machining
o Fit-up
o Welding
o NDT
o Painting
o Dispatch
· Break the project into activity-wise stages and prepare weekly / daily plans.
· Identify critical path items and likely bottlenecks.
· Plan sequence so that material, manpower and machines are optimally utilized.
· Prepare bay-wise and machine-wise loading plans.
· Coordinate interdependency between multiple departments and projects.
3. Production Coordination
· Issue fabrication packages to production.
· Ensure drawings, BOM, WPS, QAP and material are available before starting work.
· Coordinate with production supervisors for daily progress.
· Follow up for pending work, delays and shortages.
· Escalate issues affecting schedule immediately.
· Ensure no activity is held up due to missing information or materials.
4. Monitoring & Progress Tracking
· Maintain daily project progress sheets.
· Compare actual progress against planned schedule.
· Prepare daily / weekly MIS for management.
· Track percentage completion of each activity.
· Highlight delays, reasons and recovery plans.
· Conduct regular project review meetings with Production, Purchase, Stores and Quality.
5. Coordination with Other Departments
· Purchase: Follow up for ordered and pending materials.
· Stores: Ensure availability and issue of materials.
· Quality: Ensure inspection and documentation requirements are planned in advance.
· Design: Obtain revised drawings or clarifications.
· Dispatch: Plan packing, loading and dispatch schedule.
6. Site & Client Coordination (if applicable)
· Coordinate with client/site team for approvals, dispatch sequence and erection schedule.
· Attend meetings with client or consultant if required.
· Maintain records of client comments, revisions and pending actions.
Required Skills
· Ability to read and understand fabrication drawings and GA drawings.
· Strong capability in BOM extraction from drawings.
· Good understanding of fabrication processes, welding, machining and assembly sequence.
· Strong planning and coordination skills.
· Good knowledge of MS Excel and project tracking formats.
· Ability to prepare sequencing and monitor execution.
· Good communication and follow-up ability.
· Strong ownership and urgency.
Preferred Background
· Diploma / BE in Mechanical Engineering.
· 3–8 years experience in fabrication, heavy engineering, process equipment, structures or project coordination.
· Experience in industries such as:
o Process Equipment
o Structural Fabrication
o Heavy Engineering
o Oil & Gas Equipment
o Defence Fabrication

· Accuracy of BOM extraction.
· No delays due to material planning errors.
· Percentage adherence to project schedule.
· Timely identification and escalation of issues.
· Reduction in production idle time.
· Timely completion and dispatch of projects.
· Accuracy and timeliness of daily project reports.
Additional Expectations
· Must remain available during working hours and whenever critical work is under execution.
· Must visit shop floor daily and physically monitor work progress.
· Must proactively follow up instead of waiting for reminders.
· Must take ownership of project completion from start to dispatch.
Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
