1. Position Summary
The PGT Economics Teacher will be responsible for effectively teaching Economics to Classes XI and XII as per the CBSE curriculum, preparing students for board examinations, developing conceptual understanding, and supporting students in achieving strong academic outcomes.
2. Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging and effective Economics lessons for Classes XI & XII.
- Follow the latest CBSE curriculum, syllabus, academic guidelines, and examination pattern.
- Develop students' conceptual understanding of Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Indian Economic Development, Statistics for Economics, and related topics as applicable to the prescribed curriculum.
- Prepare annual, term-wise, monthly, and lesson plans as required.
- Use appropriate teaching methodologies, case studies, current economic examples, activities, discussions, and presentations to make learning practical and engaging.
- Prepare students thoroughly for CBSE Class XII Board Examinations, including competency-based and application-oriented questions.
- Conduct regular class tests, assignments, worksheets, revisions, and assessments.
- Analyse students' academic performance and implement appropriate remedial and enrichment programmes.
- Maintain accurate academic records, marks, lesson plans, assessment records, and other documentation.
- Provide individual academic guidance and mentoring to students.
- Identify academically weak students and provide additional support to improve their performance.
- Encourage critical thinking, analytical skills, problem-solving ability, and application of economic concepts to real-world situations.
- Prepare high-quality question papers, question banks, assignments, and revision materials aligned with CBSE standards.
- Participate in parent-teacher meetings and communicate students' academic progress professionally.
- Coordinate with the Principal, Academic Coordinator, HOD, and other faculty members regarding academic planning and student performance.
- Participate actively in school academic activities, seminars, workshops, competitions, projects, and other institutional programmes.
- Maintain discipline, punctuality, professional conduct, and a positive learning environment in the classroom.
- Follow all school policies, procedures, academic standards, and HR requirements.
- Complete assigned academic and administrative responsibilities within the stipulated timelines.
3. Senior Secondary Responsibilities
The candidate should be capable of independently handling Classes XI & XII Economics, including:
- CBSE syllabus planning and completion.
- Board examination preparation.
- Competency-based and case-based questions.
- Previous-year question paper analysis.
- Periodic revision and pre-board preparation.
- Student performance analysis.
- Remedial classes and individual mentoring.
- Economics projects/internal assessment as applicable.
- Developing strategies to improve Class XII board examination results.
4. Required Qualification
- Postgraduate Degree in Economics / M.A. Economics or equivalent.
- B.Ed. is mandatory.
- Candidates must have strong knowledge of the CBSE Senior Secondary Economics curriculum.
5. Experience
- Minimum 3 years of teaching experience in a reputed CBSE school.
- Experience handling Classes XI & XII Economics is mandatory/preferred.
- Candidates with proven CBSE Class XII Board examination results will be given preference.
- Experience in question-paper setting, assessment, remedial teaching, and academic planning will be an added advantage.

8. Reporting
Reports To: Principal / Head of Department
Location: ABS Global Smart School, JN Road, Tiruvallur.
Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹45,000.00 per month
Work Location: In person
