Lead procurement and sourcing operations for manufacturing and business requirements by ensuring timely availability of materials, supplier performance management, cost optimization, strategic sourcing, inventory control, and efficient coordination across the supply chain to support uninterrupted business operations.
Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities
- Lead end-to-end procurement activities for raw materials, bought-out components, consumables, tooling, capital equipment, and services.
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies aligned with cost, quality, delivery, and business objectives.
- Drive supplier identification, evaluation, development, negotiation, and performance management initiatives.
- Monitor procurement schedules and ensure timely material availability to support manufacturing, projects, and customer commitments.
- Conduct techno-commercial evaluations, vendor negotiations, and contract finalization.
- Coordinate with Planning, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Stores, and Finance teams for procurement planning and execution.
- Drive cost reduction, localization, value engineering, and procurement efficiency improvement initiatives.
- Monitor inventory levels, material shortages, non-moving inventory, and working capital optimization.
- Review supplier delivery performance, quality issues, and corrective action implementation.
- Ensure compliance with procurement policies, approval matrix, audit requirements, and statutory guidelines.
- Support new product development activities through supplier development and sourcing support.
- Analyze procurement spend, supplier trends, market intelligence, and commodity price movements.
- Prepare procurement MIS, KPI dashboards, cost reports, and management reviews.
- Support resolution of supplier escalations, delivery delays, commercial disputes, and operational challenges.
- Drive digitization, ERP optimization, and process improvement initiatives within procurement operations.
- Mentor and guide procurement team members to enhance capability and performance.
Knowledge and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Commerce, or Business Administration.
- MBA / PGDM in Supply Chain or Operations preferred.
- Procurement and sourcing experience in manufacturing industries.
- Strong understanding of procurement operations, supplier management, inventory control, and supply chain coordination.
- Experience in industrial products, hydraulics, automotive, engineering components, or precision manufacturing preferred.
- Strong commercial negotiation and cost analysis capability.
- Familiarity with ERP systems, procurement analytics, MIS reporting, and inventory management systems.
- Understanding of contracts, commercial terms, taxation basics, and procurement compliance.
- Exposure to vendor development, localization, and strategic sourcing initiatives.
- Knowledge of Lean Supply Chain, inventory optimization, and procurement process improvement practices.
