We are seeking an experienced Design Engineer with 5 years of experience in oil refinery or downstream oil & gas projects. The role involves engineering design of refinery equipment and systems, ensuring compliance with industry codes, safety standards, and operational requirements. The engineer will work closely with process, piping, procurement, construction, and maintenance teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and review engineering designs, layouts, and drawings for refinery systems and equipment
- Design and support static and rotary equipment, piping systems, and plant layouts (as applicable to discipline)
- Prepare and review datasheets, specifications, MTOs, and BOMs
- Ensure compliance with API, ASME, ASTM, ANSI, ISO, and relevant refinery standards
- Coordinate with process, piping, civil, electrical, and instrumentation teams
- Participate in HAZOP, design reviews, and safety studies
- Support FEED, detailed engineering, and EPC project phases
- Handle engineering change management during execution and site modifications
- Provide technical support during procurement, vendor drawing review, fabrication, and site construction
- Assist in commissioning, troubleshooting, and plant revamp/shutdown activities
- Ensure designs meet operability, maintainability, and safety requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Chemical / Production Engineering (discipline-specific)
- 5 years of design experience in oil refinery or downstream oil & gas industry
- Strong knowledge of refinery equipment, piping systems, and plant engineering
- Experience with industry codes and standards (API, ASME, ASTM, etc.)
- Proficiency in engineering tools and CAD software (AutoCAD, Smart Plant, PDMS, E3D, SolidWorks, etc.)
- Ability to interpret P&IDs, GA drawings, and technical specifications
- Understanding of safety and risk assessment processes
Preferred Skills
- Experience in EPC / PMC refinery projects
- Exposure to plant revamp, debottlenecking, or brownfield projects
- Knowledge of ERP systems and document control procedures
- Site experience during construction or commissioning
- Strong coordination and communication skills
