Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Bill Auditor to join our growing team. In this role, you will review and analyze utility and supplier invoices for electricity, natural gas, and water services to identify billing errors, overcharges, contract discrepancies, and cost-recovery opportunities. You will play a critical role in ensuring billing accuracy while helping clients reduce unnecessary expenses and recover incorrect charges.
This position is ideal for individuals with strong analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail, and experience working with utility billing data, auditing, accounting, or energy-related services.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and audit utility and supplier invoices for electricity, natural gas, and water services to verify billing accuracy and compliance.
- Identify billing errors, overcharges, duplicate charges, incorrect rate applications, tax discrepancies, and other invoice irregularities.
- Accurately extract, organize, and enter utility billing, usage, and rate data into Excel spreadsheets to support auditing, analysis, and reporting activities.
- Conduct current and historical bill audits to uncover recovery opportunities and potential cost savings.
- Verify that utility and supplier invoices accurately reflect contracted pricing, agreed-upon terms, and applicable rate structures.
- Investigate unusual consumption patterns, billing variances, and account-level discrepancies.
- Prepare audit findings, reports, and client-facing summaries with clear documentation of identified issues.
- Maintain organized and accurate records of invoices, audit results, supporting documents, and account information.
- Utilize Excel and internal auditing tools to analyze billing data and validate calculations.
- Collaborate with Account Executives and internal teams to communicate audit findings, support client initiatives, and resolve billing issues with utilities and energy suppliers.
- Assist with utility and supplier inquiries, disputes, and recovery efforts related to identified billing discrepancies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- 1–3 years of experience in utility bill auditing, accounting, finance, data analysis, or a related analytical role.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, data validation, and data analysis.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines in a remote environment.
- Must be based in India and available to work full-time during U.S. EST business hours.
