Job Summary
The Optometrist will be responsible for conducting comprehensive eye examinations, performing refraction, assisting in the diagnosis of visual disorders, and providing quality patient care. The role involves supporting ophthalmologists in clinical evaluations, patient screening, diagnostic procedures, and community outreach activities to ensure effective eye care services.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Responsibilities
- Conduct refraction and prescribe appropriate corrective lenses.
- Perform visual acuity assessments and comprehensive eye screenings.
- Assist in identifying refractive errors and common ocular conditions.
- Conduct basic diagnostic procedures using ophthalmic equipment.
- Support ophthalmologists during patient evaluations and treatment planning.
- Maintain accurate patient records and clinical documentation.
- Provide patient counseling regarding eye care, spectacle use, and follow-up requirements.
Diagnostic Responsibilities
- Operate ophthalmic equipment such as Auto Refractometer, Lensometer, Keratometer, A-Scan, and other diagnostic devices.
- Perform preliminary investigations and assist in clinical assessments.
- Ensure proper maintenance and handling of diagnostic equipment.
Community & Outreach Activities
- Participate in vision screening programs, outreach camps, and community eye care initiatives.
- Conduct patient screening during eye camps and referral activities.
- Support awareness programs related to eye health and preventive eye care.
Quality & Compliance
- Follow hospital protocols, infection control practices, and clinical guidelines.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and professional standards.
- Participate in departmental meetings, audits, and training programs.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards and documentation requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Optometry (B.Optom) from a recognized institution.
- Diploma in Optometry from a recognized institute.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in an eye hospital or ophthalmology setup.

- Strong refraction skills.
- Experience in basic ophthalmic diagnostic procedures.
- Patient screening and counseling expertise.
- Experience in community outreach and eye camps.
- Knowledge of ophthalmic equipment and instruments.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with ophthalmologists and multidisciplinary teams.
- Basic computer knowledge and familiarity with Hospital Information Systems (HIS).
Pay: Up to ₹25,000.00 per month
