Market Research & Design Intern (EdTech for Social Impact)
As a Market Research Intern, you will operate at the intersection of social impact, gaming, and product design. Your primary mission will be to investigate the global and local landscape of educational games, identify what makes mobile games highly engaging for children, and translate those insights into actionable design recommendations for our development team.
Your research will directly shape the blueprint of an app built to educate thousands of underprivileged students.
### Key Responsibilities
* **Competitive Landscape Analysis:** Research existing educational apps, gamified learning platforms, and popular mobile games to identify best practices, feature gaps, and industry benchmarks.
* **Target Audience Research:** Analyze the unique needs, technological constraints (e.g., low-bandwidth environments, shared family devices), and digital behaviors of underprivileged students.
* **Gamification Mechanics Study:** Investigate what psychological triggers, reward systems (badges, levels, streaks), and gameplay loops keep young learners intrinsically motivated.
* **Design & UI/UX Ideation:** Collaborate with our product team to translate research data into early-stage concept features, user personas, wireframe ideas, and accessible design recommendations.
* **Reporting & Strategy:** Compile your findings into clear, visual presentations and concise briefs to pitch new app concepts to stakeholders and donors.
### Qualifications & Skills
* **Education:** Current student or recent graduate in Market Research, Business Strategy, Psychology, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), UI/UX Design, Education, or a related field.
* **A Passion for Gamified Learning:** You understand what makes games fun and engaging, and you want to use that power for social good.
* **Analytical Thinking:** Ability to dig through app store data, user reviews, and market reports to identify trend data and user behaviors.
* **Empathy-Driven Mindset:** Ability to view product design through the lens of a child from an underserved community with limited tech access.
* **Communication:** Strong skills in packaging complex research into clean, visual, and easy-to-digest reports.
* *Pluses:* Basic experience with collaborative design tools like Figma or Miro, or a background volunteering in tutoring/mentorship programs.
### What You Will Gain
* **Real Portfolio Impact:** Direct ownership over the foundational research of a live mobile application.
* **Mentorship:** Work closely with experienced non-profit leaders, product managers, and developers.
* **Flexibility:** We value work-life balance and are happy to accommodate your university schedule.
* **Purpose:** The pride of knowing your daily work is actively helping to democratize education for children globally.
