To prepare accurate cost estimates and competitive bids for civil and mechanical works by analyzing drawings, specifications, BOQs, and tender documents, supporting project planning, budgeting, value engineering, and cost control in line with organisational standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Estimation & Costing
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for civil and mechanical works based on drawings, specifications, and BOQs.
- Perform quantity take-offs for concrete, reinforcement steel, earthworks, structural steel, piping, mechanical systems, and equipment.
- Analyse material, labour, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Prepare project budgets, cost breakdown structures (CBS), and comparative statements.
- Maintain estimation databases and historical cost records.
2. Tendering & Bidding
- Review tender documents, drawings, technical specifications, and commercial terms.
- Prepare BOQs, rate analysis, pricing schedules, and bid summaries.
- Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain quotations.
- Evaluate and compare supplier and subcontractor bids.
- Assist in tender submissions and bid clarifications.
3. Technical Review & Coordination
- Review civil and mechanical drawings for discrepancies and constructability issues.
- Coordinate with design, planning, procurement, and project execution teams.
- Support value engineering and cost optimisation initiatives.
- Provide cost-related inputs during planning and execution stages.
4. Variations, Claims & Reporting
- Prepare cost estimates for variations and change orders.
- Support project teams in claims, revisions, and final accounts.
- Prepare cost reports as required.
