Job Summary:
The SMT Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring Surface Mount Technology (SMT) machines used in PCB assembly. The role includes machine setup, component loading, quality inspection, and ensuring smooth production while following company quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate SMT production machines such as Pick-and-Place, Screen Printer, and Reflow Oven.
- Load and replenish electronic components in feeders according to the production plan.
- Set up SMT machines based on production requirements and work instructions.
- Perform first-off inspection before starting production.
- Monitor machine performance and identify basic machine faults.
- Conduct visual inspection of PCBs for component placement and soldering defects.
- Maintain production records and update daily production reports.
- Ensure components and materials are handled properly to avoid damage.
- Follow ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) and safety procedures at all times.
- Coordinate with Quality and Maintenance teams to resolve production issues.
- Maintain cleanliness and 5S standards in the work area.
Required Qualifications:
- Diploma / ITI / Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electrical, or a related field.
- 0–3 years of experience in SMT manufacturing (Freshers can also be considered if trained).
Required Skills:
- Basic knowledge of SMT process and PCB assembly.
- Familiarity with Pick-and-Place machines, Screen Printer, and Reflow Oven.
- Ability to identify common SMT defects.
- Understanding of ESD handling procedures.
- Good observation and attention to detail.
- Basic troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work in rotational shifts.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with SMT machine brands such as Fuji, Yamaha, Panasonic, ASM (Siemens), or Juki.
- Knowledge of IPC standards is an added advantage.
