The Assistant Professor will teach, mentor, and support delivery of the BTech Manufacturing Engineering programme at the School of Advanced Manufacturing, SriCity International University. The programme follows a Work-Integrated Learning model with block teaching, one course at a time, and 100 percent continuous assessment with no end examinations, serving two industry tracks, Automotive and AC Manufacturing. The role combines classroom and laboratory instruction, industry-linked project supervision, curriculum support, student mentoring, and research.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Teach assigned courses across the Foundation, Advancement, Enhancement, and Enrichment phases using the block-teaching model (one course at a time, full working week).
- Plan and run 100 percent continuous assessment with no end examination, including rubrics, project tasks, vivas, and laboratory evaluation.
- Deliver integrated theory and laboratory instruction relevant to both the Automotive and AC Manufacturing tracks.
- Prepare course plans, unit content, lab manuals, and learning resources aligned to APSCHE R-23 and the internal WIL operational document.
- Supervise student projects, on-the-job training (OJT), and industry-integrated learning activities.
- Mentor and advise students on academic progress, attendance, and professional development.
- Contribute to curriculum review, NSQF competency mapping, and accreditation documentation (AICTE, NAAC, NBA).
- Pursue research, publications, and funded or consultancy projects in manufacturing and allied areas.
- Participate in admissions, internal assessment, and departmental and institutional committees.
- Maintain academic records, attendance, and assessment data as per university norms.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- BE/BTech in Mechanical or an allied branch and ME/MTech with specialization in Manufacturing, Production, or Industrial Engineering, with first class or equivalent at both levels, as per AICTE norms.
- Postgraduate specialization in Design or Thermal Engineering is not required for this position; the focus is on manufacturing, production, and industrial engineering.
- Sound subject knowledge in core manufacturing areas: manufacturing processes, machining, metrology, CAD and CAM, engineering materials, quality, and lean.
- Ability to teach in a block-taught, continuous-assessment format and to handle laboratory instruction.
- Good communication skills in English; working knowledge of Telugu or Hindi is an advantage.
- Commitment to industry-integrated, hands-on engineering education.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- PhD (awarded or submitted) in a relevant area of manufacturing, production, or industrial engineering.
- Valid GATE score, or NET or SET qualification.
- Industry or applied research experience in automotive or AC and electronics manufacturing.
- Familiarity with CAD and CAM tools (AutoCAD, Fusion 360, SolidWorks), CNC, metrology, or PLC and automation.
- Publications in peer-reviewed journals and exposure to funded or consultancy projects.
- Experience with outcome-based education, NSQF or NBA frameworks, or accreditation processes.
