Position Overview
As the Senior Accountant at GetSet Events, you will take full ownership of the company’s financial health, accounting operations, and compliance. This is both a strategic and hands-on role. You will manage everyday accounting functions, oversee and mentor junior accountants, and implement robust financial controls tailored to project-based event accounting. The ideal candidate has strong leadership skills and deep experience managing complex cash flows, multi-vendor invoicing, and client budgets.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Leadership & Team Management
- Supervise Junior Staff: Oversee, mentor, and review the day-to-day work of Junior Accountants (including data entry, ledger maintenance, and bank reconciliations).
- Process Optimization: Establish, implement, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the accounting department to maximize efficiency.
End-to-End Accounting Operations
- Full-Cycle Accounting: Manage accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), payroll processing, and general ledger maintenance.
- Month-End & Year-End Close: Lead the monthly and annual closing processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Bank & Cash Flow Management: Monitor daily cash flow, optimize working capital, and handle reconciliations for multiple bank accounts and corporate credit cards.
Project & Event-Specific Accounting
- Budget vs. Actual Analysis: Collaborating closely with Event Project Managers to track real-time project expenses against client budgets.
- Vendor & Vendor Management: Oversee complex vendor payment schedules, advance deposits, and final settlements across multiple simultaneous events.
- Client Invoicing: Manage milestone-based client billing, tracking event advances, variations, and final reconciliations.
Compliance, Taxation & Auditing
- Tax Compliance: Ensure timely calculation, filing, and payment of all applicable corporate taxes (e.g., GST, TDS, or local payroll/service taxes depending on region).
- Audit Readiness: Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors and ensure all financial records are completely audit-ready.
Required Skills & QualificationsEducation & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce (B.Com). A Master’s degree (M.Com/MBA Finance) or semi-qualified professional certification (CA/CPA inter) is a strong plus.
- 4–6 years of core accounting experience, with at least 1–2 years in a senior, supervisory, or team-lead capacity.
- Prior experience in event management, hospitality, advertising, or project-based service industries is highly preferred.
Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Tally Prime, QuickBooks, Zoho Books, or similar ERP systems).
- Expert-level knowledge of Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, financial modeling).
- Thorough understanding of regional tax structures (GST, TDS, and corporate tax regulations).
Soft Skills
- Strong leadership capabilities with a knack for mentoring junior team members.
- Exceptional organizational skills to manage financial data for multiple events at once.
- Excellent communication skills to translate complex numbers into actionable insights for leadership and cross-functional teams.
