We are seeking an experienced professional to manage vessel marine operations within our LPG/Ammonia fleet, including hands-on experience handling VLGC vessels, ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of cargo while upholding the highest environmental and safety standards. This role is critical to maintaining customer satisfaction and protecting the well-being of our ship staff through expert technical oversight and strategic operational support.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage marine operations to ensure safe and efficient cargo carriage in compliance with port and terminal regulations.
- Advise and assist vessel masters in preparing for terminal inspections and complying with charter party terms.
- Evaluate and negotiate with agents and approve proforma disbursements to ensure proper voyage accounting.
- Monitor vessel performance, including bunker consumption, speed, and weather routing, to optimize voyage efficiency.
- Provide technical advice to the master regarding tank cleaning and vessel readiness for nominated cargoes.
- Support the chartering desk by providing accurate information for questionnaires, loadable quantities, and bunker requirements.
- Manage and motivate senior executive and executive staff to achieve operational excellence.
- Conduct operations briefings for senior officers before they join vessels and address gaps highlighted in inspections or non-conformance reports.
- Collaborate with the safety and quality team to implement health, safety, and environmental initiatives.
Requirements
- Certificate of competency (Master Class 1).
- Minimum of 6 months command experience on relevant vessel types.
- 3 years of experience as a chief mate on relevant vessels or two years of shore experience as a superintendent.
- Strong incident investigation and reporting capabilities.
- Proficiency in SIRE and navigation audits.
- Excellent negotiation skills for managing agents and disbursements.
