A DMO (Duty Medical Officer) is a doctor who is responsible for the medical care and supervision of patients during their duty hours, especially in hospitals.
Main job responsibilities:
- Attend patients – Examine patients and assess their condition.
- Emergency care – Handle emergency and urgent medical situations.
- Initial diagnosis – Take history, perform examination, and identify the likely problem.
- Treatment – Start appropriate treatment and prescribe medicines within their scope.
- Monitor patients – Check patients' progress and respond to changes in condition.
- Coordinate with specialists – Inform consultants/specialists when needed.
- Inpatient care – Review admitted patients and follow treatment orders.
- Documentation – Maintain proper case sheets, progress notes, and medical records.
- Communication – Explain the patient's condition and treatment to relatives when appropriate.
- Shift handover – Clearly hand over important patient information to the next duty doctor.
Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
