Job Summary:
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Nuclear Medicine Physician to oversee and interpret diagnostic imaging studies including PET-CT and Gamma Camera (SPECT) procedures. The role involves clinical evaluation, reporting, radiation safety compliance, and collaboration with referring clinicians to ensure high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Imaging & Reporting:
- Interpret and report PET-CT scans (Oncology, Neurology, Cardiology cases)
- Interpret Gamma Camera (SPECT) studies including bone scans, renal scans, thyroid scans, cardiac perfusion scans, etc.
- Ensure accurate, timely, and high-quality diagnostic reports
2. Patient Care:
- Evaluate patient history and clinical indications prior to procedures
- Supervise radiopharmaceutical administration
- Monitor patients during and after procedures
3. Radiation Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) guidelines
- Maintain radiation safety standards for staff and patients
- Handle radioactive materials as per regulatory norms
4. Operational Management:
- Oversee day-to-day functioning of PET-CT and Gamma Camera units
- Coordinate with technologists and support staff
- Ensure optimal utilization of equipment and adherence to protocols
5. Quality & Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of procedures
- Participate in audits, NABL/NABH accreditation processes
- Ensure adherence to SOPs and quality standards
6. Clinical Collaboration:
- Work closely with oncologists, neurologists, cardiologists, and referring physicians
- Provide clinical correlation and second opinions when required
Qualifications:
- MD / DNB in Nuclear Medicine OR
- DRM (Diploma in Radiation Medicine) from a recognized institute
Experience:
- 3–8 years: Consultant level (independent reporting)
- Experience in both PET-CT and SPECT imaging preferred
Skills Required:
- Strong diagnostic and reporting skills
- Knowledge of radiopharmaceuticals and imaging protocols
- Familiarity with radiation safety practices
- Good communication and teamwork abilities
- Attention to detail and clinical accuracy
Licensing / Certifications:
- Valid registration with Medical Council
- AERB certification / RSO certification preferred
Key Equipment Exposure:
- PET-CT Scanner
- Gamma Camera (SPECT / SPECT-CT)
- Dose calibrators and hot lab operations
