Responsibilities
* Inspect PPE issued to construction workers before and during site operations.
* Check safety helmets, safety shoes, gloves, goggles, face shields, reflective vests, ear protection, respirators and fall-protection equipment.
* Verify PPE is appropriate for the specific job hazard and properly fitted.
* Identify damaged, expired, worn-out or defective PPE and arrange immediate replacement.
* Monitor workers to ensure PPE is worn correctly and consistently.
* Maintain daily PPE inspection checklists and records.
* Conduct regular site inspections and report PPE non-compliance.
* Coordinate with supervisors and subcontractors to correct safety violations.
* Conduct toolbox talks and brief workers on correct PPE use, care and limitations.
* Maintain PPE inventory and records of issue, replacement and inspection.
* Report serious safety violations immediately to the HSE/Safety Manager.
* Follow applicable company HSE procedures and construction safety standards.
Regular and documented site inspections are an important part of construction safety programs, and OSHA recommends documenting deficiencies so corrective actions can be verified. ([OSHA]
Required Qualifications
* Diploma/Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Construction Safety or related field.
* 1–3 years of construction-site safety/PPE inspection experience preferred.
* Knowledge of PPE standards and construction safety procedures.
* Ability to identify workplace hazards and take prompt corrective action.
* Good communication and reporting skills.
* Basic computer skills for inspection reports and documentation.
* Relevant OSHA / NEBOSH / IOSH / Safety certification can be an advantage, depending on the employer and country.
