About the Role
We're hiring a detail-oriented Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) to support accurate abstraction and structuring of oncology patient data within OncoEMR. You'll work across both Solid Tumor and Hematologic (Heme) malignancies, helping ensure clinical data is complete, accurate, and delivered on time to support downstream oncology care and reporting.
This is a great fit for someone with a background in clinical data abstraction, medical coding, cancer registry work, clinical research, or oncology-adjacent healthcare data roles who is comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven remote environment.
What You'll Do
- Abstract and structure oncology patient data from clinical documentation within OncoEMR, covering both Solid Tumor and Hematologic malignancies
- Work across a range of oncology data categories — including diagnosis, pathology, radiation, genetic test results, treatment/drug details, labs, scans, and related clinical documentation
- Meet project-specific turnaround times (averaging approximately 9 hours per case)
- Flag discrepancies, missing documentation, or unclear clinical data for review
- Maintain strict confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and data privacy standards
- Collaborate with project leads and clinical stakeholders to maintain high data quality
What We're Looking For
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in clinical data abstraction, medical coding, or a related healthcare data role
- Clinical Data Abstractor, Medical Coder (especially oncology/ICD-O coding), Clinical Research Associate/Coordinator (oncology trials), or Cancer Registrar
- Experience in medical billing/RCM with exposure to oncology accounts
- General clinical data abstraction, chart review, or structured data entry from unstructured clinical documentation
- Working knowledge of any EMR/EHR platform (OncoEMR experience is a plus, not a requirement — we provide platform training)
- Solid understanding of clinical terminology; oncology-specific staging and treatment protocol knowledge is a strong plus
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy under time-bound deadlines
- Background in Life Sciences, Nursing, Pharmacy, or Health Information Management preferred
- Excellent written English and documentation skills
