Job Summary
Sea Blue Shipyard is seeking experienced Arc Welders (SMAW) to join our shipbuilding and marine fabrication team. The successful candidate will perform high-quality welding on structural steel, ship sections, and marine components while ensuring compliance with approved welding procedures, quality standards, and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) on structural steel, ship blocks, and marine components.
- Read and interpret fabrication drawings, welding symbols, and work instructions.
- Prepare materials by cutting, grinding, beveling, and cleaning before welding.
- Carry out tack welding and final welding in various positions (1G, 2G, 3G, and 4G as required).
- Ensure proper weld penetration, bead profile, and dimensional accuracy.
- Repair welding defects and complete finishing work when necessary.
- Operate welding machines, gas cutting equipment, grinders, and other fabrication tools safely.
- Inspect completed welds for quality and report any defects.
- Maintain welding equipment and ensure proper storage of welding consumables.
- Follow all safety regulations, PPE requirements, and company policies.
- Coordinate with fitters, fabricators, supervisors, and QC inspectors to meet production targets.
Required Qualifications
- ITI Welder or equivalent vocational qualification.
- Welding certification is an added advantage.
Experience
- 2–10 years of experience as an Arc Welder (SMAW).
- Experience in shipbuilding, marine, offshore, heavy engineering, structural steel fabrication, or pressure vessel fabrication is preferred.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW).
- Ability to read fabrication drawings and welding symbols.
- Good understanding of welding electrodes, welding parameters, and joint preparation.
- Experience welding in multiple positions.
- Knowledge of fabrication tools and measuring instruments.
- Strong commitment to quality and workplace safety.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Working Conditions
