About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and reliable Cook / Chef for a vegetarian household. The ideal candidate can prepare a wide variety of authentic Indian dishes — both North Indian and South Indian — without the use of onion and garlic in any form. You will be cooking fresh, wholesome meals for morning and evening shifts and handling essential kitchen duties daily.
Morning Shift — Breakfast & Tiffin (approx. 10:00 AM – 1:00 pm)
- Prepare fresh breakfast: Poha, Upma, Idli, Dosa, Paratha, Puri-Sabzi, Sabudana Khichdi
- Pack tiffin / lunch box items as required
- Make fresh chutneys, sambhar, and accompaniments from scratch
- All dishes strictly without onion and garlic — hing, ginger, cumin used as flavour base
- Brew chai / coffee as needed
Evening Shift — Dinner (approx. 7 PM – 10:00 PM)
- Cook full dinner: dal, 2 sabzi varieties, rice / roti, optional sweet dish
- North Indian: Dal Tadka, Paneer dishes, Aloo Sabzi, Mixed Veg, Rajma, Kadhi, Chole (no onion/garlic)
- South Indian: Sambar, Rasam, Kootu, Aviyal, Bisibele Bath, Lemon Rice, Curd Rice
- Jain-friendly / Sattvic meal variants when requested
- Balanced, nutritious, home-style cooking
Additional Daily Duties
- Visit local market / sabzi mandi daily to buy fresh vegetables, dairy, and groceries
- Maintain grocery list and inform household before stock runs out
- Wash and clean all utensils and vessels after each meal
- Keep kitchen counter, stove, and sink clean at all times
- Store groceries, grains, and spices properly — labelled and organised
- Basic kitchen hygiene: wiping surfaces, emptying bins, weekly fridge cleaning
- Help with bulk cooking for festivals or guests occasionally

Dal varieties (toor, moong, masoor, urad), Paneer — Palak / Matar / Shahi, Aloo / Gobhi / Bhindi / Lauki sabzis, Puri / Paratha / Phulka / Missi Roti, Rajma / Chole, Kheer / Halwa / Sheera
South Indian (No Onion / No Garlic):
Idli / Dosa / Rava Dosa / Uttapam, Sambar (ginger-based, no onion/garlic), Rasam / Kootu / Poriyal / Aviyal, Curd Rice / Lemon Rice / Tamarind Rice, Ven Pongal / Upma / Bisibele Bath, Coconut / Tomato / Curry Leaf chutneys
Who We Are Looking For
- Minimum 2–3 years cooking experience in a household or similar setting
- Must have experience cooking without onion and garlic (Jain / Sattvic / Brahmin style) — mandatory
- Confident in both North Indian and South Indian cuisine
- Honest, punctual, and able to manage the kitchen independently
- Comfortable visiting local market daily and purchasing within a budget
- Good hygiene habits — clean cooking style, keeps kitchen tidy
- Preferably non-smoker and non-drinker
- Basic Hindi or Bengali communication preferred
- Open to feedback and can adjust dishes to family taste
