The Hedge Fund Reconciliation & Operations Analyst is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of financial data through daily reconciliations while supporting core hedge fund operational processes. This role acts as a bridge between front office, middle office, and back office functions, ensuring smooth trade lifecycle management and data integrity.
Key Responsibilities
Reconciliation Duties
- Perform daily reconciliation of:
- Cash balances
- Securities positions
- Trades and transactions
- Compare internal records with:
- Prime brokers
- Custodians
- Fund administrators
- Identify, investigate, and resolve breaks promptly
- Escalate unresolved discrepancies and track them to closure
- Maintain reconciliation reports and audit trails
Operations Responsibilities
- Support end-to-end trade lifecycle:
- Trade capture, confirmation, settlement
- Monitor trade settlements and resolve settlement failures
- Assist in corporate actions processing (dividends, splits, mergers)
- Perform NAV validation and assist fund accounting teams
- Manage cash and liquidity movements (subscriptions/redemptions)
- Coordinate with:
- Traders
- Portfolio managers
- Brokers and counterparties
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements
- Support month-end and year-end reporting processes
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
- 1–5 years of experience in hedge fund operations, reconciliation, or fund accounting
- Strong knowledge of:
- Financial instruments (equities, derivatives, fixed income)
- Trade lifecycle and settlement processes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP; VBA is a plus)
- Familiarity with systems such as:
- Geneva, Enfusion, Bloomberg, or similar platforms
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with hedge funds, asset managers, or investment banks
- Knowledge of global markets and regulatory frameworks
