Key Responsibilities
- Remove burrs, sharp edges, and surface imperfections from machined parts using hand tools, grinders, files, sanders, and deburring equipment.
- Perform rework and repair welding on metal components as per drawings or supervisor instructions.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
- Inspect finished parts using measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Ensure dimensional accuracy and surface finish requirements are met.
- Operate grinders, polishing tools, pneumatic tools, and welding machines safely.
- Identify defects and report non-conforming parts.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area.
- Follow shop safety standards, PPE requirements, and quality procedures.
- Assist machinists and production teams during fabrication and finishing processes.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of deburring, grinding, polishing, and metal finishing processes.
- Basic welding knowledge (MIG/TIG/Arc welding preferred).
- Ability to use measuring instruments and inspection tools.
- Understanding of machine shop safety practices.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings and tolerances.
- Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
Qualifications
- ITI / Diploma in Welding, Fitter, Machinist, or related trade preferred.
- 1–3 years of experience in machine shop finishing or welding work.
- Freshers with practical shop experience may also apply.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in CNC machine shop environment.
- Familiarity with stainless steel, MS, aluminium, or fabrication work.
- Experience with rework and corrective welding.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift heavy components when required.
- Standing for extended periods.
- Ability to work in hot/noisy industrial environments.
