Position Summary
The Housekeeping Executive is responsible for supervising daily housekeeping operations to ensure guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and presentation. The role involves team supervision, inventory control, quality checks, and coordination with other departments to deliver an exceptional guest experience consistent with Orion Group of Hotels' service standards.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Supervision
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of room attendants, housekeeping supervisors, and support staff
- Allocate work assignments and monitor completion against occupancy and checkout schedules
- Conduct routine inspections of guest rooms, corridors, public areas, and back-of-house areas to ensure adherence to quality and hygiene standards
- Ensure prompt turnaround of vacant, dirty (VD) rooms and handle expedited cleaning requests
- Coordinate with the Front Office team on room status updates, early check-ins, and special requests
Quality & Guest Experience
- Ensure guest rooms and public areas meet brand SOPs for cleanliness, amenities placement, and presentation
- Respond promptly to guest complaints or special requests related to housekeeping services
- Conduct spot checks and maintain quality audit records
- Ensure lost and found procedures are followed accurately
Inventory & Cost Control
- Monitor and maintain inventory of linen, guest supplies, cleaning chemicals, and equipment
- Conduct periodic stock counts and coordinate replenishment through the purchase/store requisition process
- Control wastage and ensure cost-effective use of consumables and materials
- Maintain records of par stock levels for linen and amenities
Team Management
- Train, mentor, and evaluate housekeeping staff on cleaning techniques, safety protocols, and service standards
- Prepare duty rosters and manage staff attendance and leave schedules
- Conduct briefings and debriefings with the team on a shift basis
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and performance appraisal processes for housekeeping staff
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene regulations, including handling of cleaning chemicals
- Maintain records for pest control, deep cleaning schedules, and preventive maintenance coordination with Engineering
- Ensure proper usage and maintenance of housekeeping equipment
- Follow all Orion Group of Hotels' SOPs, safety protocols, and audit requirements
Administration
- Maintain accurate records of room status, maintenance requests, and inspection reports
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly housekeeping reports for the Executive Housekeeper/Manager
- Coordinate with Engineering, Front Office, and Laundry departments for smooth operations
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
- Effective team leadership and people management skills
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to multitask and work under pressure during high-occupancy periods
- Familiarity with housekeeping management software/PMS (e.g., Opera, IDS) is an advantage
- Sound knowledge of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and safety practices
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma/Degree in Hotel Management or related hospitality field
- Minimum 2–4 years of experience in housekeeping operations, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role
- Prior experience in a branded hotel chain preferred
- Willingness to work in rotational shifts, including weekends
Pay: ₹14,000.00 - ₹17,000.78 per month
