Key Responsibilities
Machine Operation & Setup: Load raw materials (often heavy forgings or exotic alloys) and execute pre-programmed paths on CNC lathes and VMCs (3-axis, 4-axis, or 5-axis).
Blueprint Reading: Interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) symbols to understand part specifications.
Tooling & Workholding: Select, install, and align the correct cutting tools, inserts, fixtures, and chucks required for each specific job.
In-Process Inspection: Perform regular quality checks using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, vernier calipers, bore gauges, thread gauges) to ensure parts conform to API (American Petroleum Institute) specifications.
Process Optimization: Monitor machine performance, detect malfunctions, adjust offsets (wear and geometry), and replace worn tooling to maintain part quality and prevent damage.
Material Handling: Safe handling and machining of heavy-duty materials common in oilfields, such as Inconel, Duplex steel, 4130/4140 alloy steels, and stainless steel.
Maintenance & Safety: Perform daily routine maintenance (fluid levels, chip clearing) and strictly adhere to HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) guidelines, including proper PPE usage.
