1. Must be punctual and regular, should come ahead of time.
2. To assist OT technician, staff nurses, anaesthetists, surgeons in carrying out their job.
3. To Keep operation theatres clean (housekeeping) and sterilized.
4. To assist in patient positioning.
5. To assist patients in their pre-operative and post-operative needs such as providing urine pots etc.
6. To transport patient to and from the theatre.
7. To change medical gases cylinders, if they are inside the OT including that of anaesthesia machines.
8. To wash instruments etc. as per instructions of the technician.
9. To ensure that supplies (surgical consumable and drugs) are in required quantity before taking any operation.
10. To bring supplies from the store, pharmacist.
11. To take all safety and infection control precautions as per protocol.
12. To properly account for abdominal swabs and proper disposal of swabs and other haemostatic material.
13. To carry out any inter-departments work such as delivering pathological specimens to laboratory
14. To prepare surgical supplies such as POP bandages, dressings, gauze etc.
15. To carry out or assist in carrying out minor procedures such as minor dressing.
