A Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) in English is responsible for instructing students in Classes 6 to 10 on language and literature. The role involves delivering engaging lessons, improving grammar and communication skills, evaluating student performance, and preparing them for secondary-level assessments and board examinations.
- Curriculum Delivery: Plan and teach prose, poetry, grammar, and vocabulary according to curriculum guidelines (e.g., CBSE standards).
- Skill Development: Enhance students' listening, speaking, reading, and writing capabilities through regular practice and interactive activities.
- Assessment & Evaluation: Create question papers, conduct assignments and tests, and maintain accurate records of student academic progress.
- Classroom Management: Maintain a disciplined, supportive, and inclusive learning environment suited for diverse learning styles.
- Extracurricular Activities: Mentor students for debate, creative writing, public speaking, and other literary events.
- Parent Communication: Participate in parent-teacher meetings to discuss student progress and address behavioral or academic concerns.
Core Requirements
- Education: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in English Literature or English Language, alongside a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree.
- Experience: Usually requires a minimum of 3 to 5 years of teaching experience, particularly with secondary school levels.
- Skills: Strong fluency in spoken and written English, sound IT/computer literacy, and a high degree of patience and empathy.
