The Ocean Export Pricing Executive is responsible for preparing competitive freight quotations, negotiating rates with shipping lines, NVOCCs, overseas agents, and transport vendors, and supporting the sales team with timely and profitable pricing solutions. The role ensures accurate costing, maintains carrier rate databases, monitors market trends, and contributes to revenue growth while ensuring compliance with company policies and international shipping standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesA. Pricing & Commercial
· Prepare competitive ocean export freight quotations for FCL, LCL, and special cargo shipments.
· Negotiate freight rates, surcharges, and service contracts with shipping lines, NVOCCs, consolidators, and overseas agents.
· Analyze shipment requirements and determine the most cost-effective routing and carrier options.
· Calculate complete shipment costs, including freight, local charges, documentation, customs, haulage, and value-added services.
· Ensure quotations meet company profitability and margin targets.
· Maintain updated freight tariffs, carrier contracts, and pricing databases.
· Monitor market freight trends, capacity, and seasonal rate fluctuations.
· Recommend pricing strategies to remain competitive while maximizing profitability.
B. Sales Support
· Respond to RFQs (Requests for Quotation) within the defined turnaround time.
· Support the sales team by providing accurate pricing for new and existing customers.
· Assist in preparing key account pricing proposals and tenders.
· Participate in customer meetings when commercial pricing support is required.
· Track quotation conversion rates and analyze win/loss performance.
C. Vendor & Carrier Management
· Develop and maintain strong relationships with shipping lines, NVOCCs, transporters, and overseas agents.
· Negotiate service contracts and preferential freight rates.
· Evaluate vendor performance based on pricing, service reliability, transit time, and responsiveness.
· Identify alternative carriers and routing options to improve service and cost efficiency.
D. Documentation & Compliance
· Verify pricing-related documentation before releasing quotations.
· Ensure pricing complies with carrier tariffs, Incoterms, company policies, and contractual agreements.
· Maintain complete records of quotations, approvals, and negotiated rates.
· Support internal and external audits related to pricing documentation.
E. Reporting & Analysis
· Prepare daily and monthly pricing reports.
· Analyze freight cost trends and gross profit margins.
· Monitor quotation turnaround time and conversion ratios.
· Submit management reports on carrier performance, pricing competitiveness, and market intelligence.
F. Coordination
· Coordinate with Operations, Customer Service, Sales, Finance, Overseas Agents, and Shipping Lines.
· Ensure smooth transition from quotation to shipment execution after business confirmation.
· Resolve pricing discrepancies before shipment execution.
Educational Qualification
· Bachelor's Degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline.
· Diploma or Certification in Freight Forwarding, Shipping, or Logistics (Preferred).
Experience
· 2–5 years of experience in Ocean Export Pricing, Freight Forwarding, or Shipping Line Commercial/Pricing functions.
