Role Overview:
An IT Major Incident Manager minimizes business downtime during critical IT outages. They lead cross-functional technical teams, facilitate incident bridge calls ("war rooms"), manage stakeholder escalations, and drive rapid service restoration while ensuring adherence to SLAs.
Key Responsibilities
Incident Coordination: Lead and manage end-to-end responses for critical (Severity 1/2) incidents from detection through resolution.

Command & Control: Mobilize appropriate technical resources, establish action plans, and remove roadblocks across technical teams and vendors.

Stakeholder Communication: Provide clear, concise status updates to business stakeholders, executives, and users to manage expectations.

Escalation Management: Make decisive calls regarding resource allocation, priority, and escalation when disagreements occur between teams.

Post-Incident Review: Facilitate root-cause analyses, compile Major Incident Reports (MIR), and work with [Problem Management] teams to prevent recurrence.
Core Requirements
Experience: Typically 5-8+ years in IT Service Management (ITSM), ITIL frameworks, or Service Operations.

Skills: Strong crisis management, executive-level communication, analytical problem-solving, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

Certifications: ITIL 4 Foundation or Specialist certifications (Create, Deliver, and Support / High-velocity IT) are highly preferred
