Job Summary
The R&D Head is responsible for leading the Research & Development function by driving product innovation, process improvement, and technology advancement. The role focuses on developing new products, enhancing existing products, optimizing manufacturing processes, and ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory standards while supporting the organization's long-term growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the organization's R&D strategy aligned with business goals.
- Lead new product development (NPD) projects from concept, design, prototyping, testing, and commercialization.
- Improve existing products by enhancing quality, performance, durability, and cost efficiency.
- Drive process innovation to improve manufacturing productivity, reduce waste, and optimize production costs.
- Collaborate with Production, Quality, Procurement, Marketing, and Sales teams for successful product launches.
- Conduct feasibility studies, material evaluations, and technical research for new product opportunities.
- Identify and implement emerging technologies, materials, and manufacturing techniques.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and statutory requirements.
- Develop product specifications, technical documentation, testing protocols, and design standards.
- Manage R&D budgets, project timelines, and resource allocation effectively.
- Build strategic relationships with suppliers, research institutions, and technology partners.
- Protect intellectual property through patents, technical documentation, and innovation management where applicable.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the R&D team while fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
- Present project updates, innovation roadmaps, and technical recommendations to senior management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Master's degree (M.Tech/M.E./MBA) is preferred.
- 10–15 years of experience in manufacturing R&D, product development, or engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong understanding of product development methodologies, manufacturing processes, quality systems, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software, product testing, and project management is an advantage.
