Job Description
The Electrician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems and equipment onboard ships and in shipyard facilities. The role involves reading electrical drawings, cable laying, cable glanding and termination, panel wiring, equipment installation, and ensuring all work is carried out in compliance with safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems onboard ships.
- Perform cable laying, glanding, termination, and continuity/insulation testing.
- Install and connect switchboards, lighting, motors, sensors, and control panels.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.
- Troubleshoot electrical faults and carry out corrective maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and project requirements.
- Coordinate with supervisors and other trades during installation and commissioning.
- Maintain tools and ensure proper housekeeping at the worksite.
Requirements:
- ITI/Diploma in Electrician, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
- 2–5 years of experience in shipbuilding, ship repair, offshore, or industrial electrical work.
- Knowledge of marine electrical systems, cable installation, and electrical testing.
- Ability to read electrical drawings and use electrical testing instruments.
- Familiarity with safety procedures and permit-to-work systems.
Preferred Skills:
- Marine electrical installation and commissioning.
- Panel wiring and control circuits.
- Cable tray installation and routing.
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Teamwork and effective communication.
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
